Angrezi pub is a place hidden in outskirts of Mumbai, ok wait no more outskirts. A place hidden in Mumbai which is 5 min walking distance from railway station and 8 kms from Vashi. The restaurant has 4 sections one fine dinning for family, pub, banquets and outer space for events. The owners have spend lot of money on interiors and creating an amazing ambiance for the pub. It has one of the biggest bar I have seen in this area.
Its an outlet which offers multi cuisine food. But the pub is well known for bar snacks & cocktails it serves. I was keen to visit this outlet but never had company of ny1 because people have a thinking that it takes 2 hrs to reach the place from Bandra which is not at all true. So I received a call from Pooja Trehan Dhamecha aka #nuvofoodies inviting me to review food served there and without any second thought I said yes. Cost for 2 is ₹2500
This is something where the owners have made sure it’s done perfectly and in an unique way.
Pub has 4 sections as well. One including the bar counter, another the main area facing the big television screen, the lounge behind the screen and lounge near the pool table.
Its very dark with disco lights making the atmosphere more interesting, Dj played some amazing songs and kept the crowd hopping on their legs, which was quite interesting to see.
The seating arrangement included some sofas and Bar Stools, which was something different to see.The pub gets filling up after 10 pm.
1. Morning Angrezi Drink
Perfect start for the evening, a combination of vodka, cucumber and lemon juice. A perfectly balanced drink in terms of combinations and taste. Beautifully presented in a jar, garnished with lemon wedge and fresh spring of mint. The sweetness of cucumber, kick of vodka and citrus flavour of lemon makes it refreshing and more happening.Simple yet effective.
2. 42-43 degree c
It’s a Whiskey based cocktail which included Bourbon, Grape juice and a dash of lemon. It was really smooth on palate. This is a Signature cocktail of the Pub, worth a try.
3. Lemon Ice Tea
A classical beverage served almost in every outlet. You cannot go wrong with this drink. I some how order the same everywhere I go. You just need to keep proper ratio of tea, sugar, water and flavour(lemon, peach.etc). And this drink did turn out as per my expectations
1. Chow Chow Prawns
Star dish of the day. Crispy prawns tossed in dry spicy masala served along with Kimchee salad and Coriander sauce. Flattened marinated prawns coated with batter and deep fried. Then tossed in dry masala made up of chilies, garlic, spring onion and coriander. Delicate flavour of prawns, spiciness of dry masala, sourness of kimchee and kick of coriander sauce created a perfect blend making it a complete dish rather a perfect Bar snack that could be served . Mr. Atul even mentioned that it is one of the signature dish of their restaurant, and i replied by saying “why not, it definitely should be”.
2. Crispy Herbed Chicken
Similar to crumb fried chicken . Crisp from out side and juicy from inside with a strong flavour of herbs served along with cocktail sauce. The chicken was perfectly crisp and not soggy, golden brown coloured, moist from inside & not over cooked ,it was perfectly the same way it should be.
3. Barbeque chicken tikka
A moist, juicy and char grilled chicken tikka cooked to perfection in clay oven garnished with chopped fresh coriander leaves & served with marinated onion rings. It was same chicken tikka you would find in any other restaurant. Only plus for this dish was the juiciness of the tikka and the charred flavour which added the spice to the dish.
4. Peanut Masala Bhel
Dry peanut bhel served along with cocktails. The peanuts were perfectly crunchy and were served by tossing it along with onion, tomato, coriander and lemon juice. I could feel the dash of amchur powder which made the bhel more interesting.
5. Pan Fried Spicy Chicken
Another dish that made me drool around. Tender chicken pieces pan fried along with spices served in a beautiful bowl which looks like a Diya. It had dominating flavour of garlic and I could also taste a hint of sourness which I guess was due to vinegar. So the combination created an umami flavour, which was easily accepted by my taste buds.
6. Golden Phyllo Bites Chicken
We were almost full but wanted to try this dish as it sounded very attractive. Light phyllo cups stuffed with a mixture of chicken topped with cheese & baked. Baking helped in gratination of cheese and to give light brown colour to the rim of phyllo cups, which served the purpose of the name given to it. For stuffing, the chicken was cut into dices and cooked along with dry sauce full of flavours. The Golden phyllo bite was a small box but full of surprises. It was very light like air but had and amazing combination of sweet and spicy chicken along with cheese.
1. Angrezi Mix Meat Pizza
I would call it as a Feast pizza. The pizza was heavy enough for 2 people, but the taste & flavour helped us finish it. Pizza with innovation at its best which was topped up with chicken tikka makhani & Seekh kebab. The chicken tikka was full of flavours and tender while the seekh kebabs were succulent and juicy. The pizza was perfectly flavoured with oregano and fresh basil. Chilli flakes in the base sauce added the spice required for the meats. Only addition that i think need to be made was use of more meats , which would make the dish more delicious and will serve the name in a better way.
2. Penne pasta in Tomato sauce with Chicken and Vegetables
Classical dish served in classical way. Pasta in tomato sauce served along with 2 garlic breads on side. The Tomato sauce was delicate in flavour with little sourness of tomato & sweetness of basil. I found pasta to be little over cooked but it is perfect for Indian Palate, pasta was topped with Parmesan cheese which added value to the dish and made it rich and more Delicious. The exotic vegetables cooked to perfection & chicken dices added body to the pasta. A complete dish enough for 2 people.
Normally service seems to be a little low at pubs. But the steward here ensured that we were taken care of everything. Every time we look for something he would make sure that it is done with ease. Mr. Atul also made sure that everything was handled perfectly .
I would definitely travel till CBD – Belapur to experience a food journey at Angrezi pub. Its not just food that drives me here, its an experience which has created a memory for me, which i would like to live more and more.
Ambiance – 9/10
Food – 9/10
Service – 9/10
Value for Money – 9/10
