Christmas is a festival which brings lot of happiness in terms of celebration and food. Dinshaw’s Xpress Cafe has curated a special menu for this festival which has a good collection of dishes using winter ingredients. It’s a small cafe which serves a huge variety when it comes to food. It has a collection of dishes round the corner of the world. “A small box full of surprises” is a perfect saying which suits this place. Cost for 2 is 800₹.
Blueberry Alaska (149₹)
A drink which was suggested to me by another blogger aka Foodie Woman turned out to be refreshing and delightful. The first look of the drink made me die for it, first sip and I couldn’t stop till I finished it
Ferrero Rocher Shake(169₹)
Thick shake made with a blend of ferrero rocher chocolate, ice cream and milk. The shake was same like you get at another place. You can miss this
Fries before Boys
This section on the menu is something to look forwards to.
Baked Cheese Chilly Fries (199₹)
A perfect way to start gang party. This yummy, delicious, cheesy fries just made us mad when it arrived at our table. If you are on a diet, still I would suggest you to cheat one day and try this crazy fries. Fried fries on the bed of spicy beans loaded with cheddar cheese and finally gratinated under the salamander which would give it a nice golden brown colour. Before it is placed on the table, chilli powder is sprinkled over it.
First Love Fries(229₹)
A similar version as above , only difference is that this is served along with BBQ grilled chicken strips.
Every burger is served along with coleslaw and peri peri spiced fries.
Note – Fries were just treat to have, I could just have those fries as my meal. Kudos to the cuilnary team of Dinshaw’s cafe
First Love Fries( 299₹)
This Burger should surely go on the regular A la Carte menu. One of the best burgers I ever had this year. It’s a barbeque glazed American style chicken Burger which had a stuffing of Grilled chicken, fries and giant quantity of cheese which oozed out when you bite through. The chicken was cooked to the desired time and temperature, later was shredded and mixed along with the barbeque sauce which provided the spice and the fire to the whole dish. We couldn’t stop licking our fingers. A must try for this December. Portion is heavy enough for one person.
Mac and Cheese Burger (249₹/269₹)
This burger is available with 2 options, one is vegetarian and another one is with chicken. Who does not crave for Mac and Cheese, atleast I would die for the classical combination of Mac & cheese. This is a burger which is stuffed with a creamy and cheesy macaroni . A good concept which can work well depending up the target clientele. Chicken option tasted better as compared to the vegetarian one. You can miss this if you looking for some lip smacking burgers.
Note – It required an extra touch of some spicy sauce or more of seasoning other wise it wouldn’t tingle the taste buds.
Another Burger which won our heart, A gigantic burger stuffed with batter fried mushrooms, caramelized onion and some home made sauces. The burger bun was perfectly toasted, the mushroom were crisp from outside and gooey from inside, caramelized onion added a charred flavour and the sauces acted like cherries on the top. A burger with different textures, well matched flavours and appetizing fries was the meal for the day.
Cranberry Spiced Roast Chicken (339₹)
A simple dish with classical combination of chicken, Potato mash and vegetables. The chicken was marinated with spices like cinnamon, red pepper powder and black pepper with a secret ingredient which changed the taste of the dish that is cranberry. The cheesy mash potatoes was smooth and mouth melting which accompanied well with the chicken and vegetables.
Note – Chicken had overpowering flavour of spices which took it a level below.
Lemon Butter Melt Fish steak (339₹)
A simple fish along with some citrus sauce is a treat in itself. This was a dish on similar lines which had a perfectly cooked, moist, flavourful & juicy Basa steak on the bed of herb rice which was perfectly puffed, finally drizzled with the classical lemon butter sauce. Lemon butter sauce was finished with little cream to give it a little body and so that it would coat every bite of your fish.
Iranian Berry Pulao (chicken/ Mutton) (299₹/339₹)
All the classical dishes have been fading out from the menu as people prefer trying new things. Yet another dish from the land of Iran which is not easily available on the menus in outlets at present. This dish had 2 options, one with chicken and another one with mutton. The pulao was delicate in flavours and didn’t have overpowering flavour of spices which made it interesting for me.The pulao was made with Rice, meat, berries, spices and seasonings.
Strawberry & Me
Fresh Belgium waffles topped up with cut fresh strawberries, whipped cream, hot fudge drizzled which is served with a scoop of Belgium chocolate ice cream. The waffles were crisp from outside and gooey from inside. Fresh strawberries added the required fruitiness in the dish.
Note – Waffles halfway through seemed little dry, so either you can add one more scoop of ice cream or can drizzle with more of chocolate sauce.
Strawberry Hazelnut Twist Sundae (299₹)
“Galaxy of desserst” is what I would call this dish. Fresh cut strawberries topped up with one scoop of Belgium chocolate ice cream and another one of Chocolate Brownie ice cream. Later garnished with ferrero rocher and final touch of drizzled nutella & hot fudge. Couldn’t ask for anything else. A perfect dessert for Christmas.
Note – A touch of alcohol would make it more interesting.
