Celebration is such a mood changing word which can uplift any kind of stress. Celebration is a result of hard work or conquering your difficulties to get a better result for something. I was invited to be a part of one such celebration along with #IFCBloggers to JW Sahar, which completed a year of successful operation in the world of hospitality. To express the same happiness a grand brunch was being laid by them showcasing all their signature array of dishes. Must say the Brunch made sure you could atleast need a week to taste each and every delicacy being showcased., every corner of the outlet had something to offer innovative stuff. The hospitality each team member provided us was worth a celebration in itself. Read along when I share my experience about one of the best brunch served in Mumbai.
Food was the main focus of the entire event, the time I entered till the time I walked out food was my best friend. It did justice to all my craving that I had for all this years. It offered everything under one roof including different cuisines, cooking techniques, flavours, textures, innovation, meats, vegetables, desserts and drinks. I am still thinking about “where should I start from“. Here it goes
This section was put up by their Italian Restaurant “Romano” headed by Chef Roberto which had stuffed pasta & tossed proprietary pasta to offer. They had 2 options in stuffed pasta namely lobster shrimp stuffed squid ink pasta & Eggplant with smoked cheese pasta. I being a seafood lover placed an order for the seafood pasta, stuffing had a delicate flavour which was enhanced by the creamy cheese sauce and exotic vegetables. As the pasta dough was made using squid ink, it made it look very attractive and fancy
A perfect drink for summer is what I shall say about this one. A freshly made mocktail using fresh watermelon juice along with muddled mint and lemon, finally finished with fizz and ice. A killer thirst quencher which almost everyone ordered after taking one sip.
It had few assorted bread loafs sliced and croissants. The crunch of the crust and the baking smell convinced that it was fresh and properly baked. The croissants were crunchy from outside and flaky from inside which left a nice buttery after taste making you sink into it
Two soups which can be topped up according to your choices, one was Khao suey and another was Clear soup. Simple flavourful and classical soups served along with enormous selection of accompaniments which would do justice to all the taste buds. A well thought idea which kicked off very well.
Tempura fried Vegetable and prawns Popsicle was the highlight of this counter. A simple addition and it made it look so different and innovative. A perfect munching along with your thirst quenching drinks.
A small counter dispensing galaxy of chaats starting from Golgappa to padi chaat to raj kachori to sev puri. A mini hub for street food lovers. And I just couldn’t stop hogging it up. The best for me was Raj Kachori which had a big puffed puri stuffed along with chana, potatoes, onion, lentils, sweetened curd and finally topped up with corainder and sev.
Som Tom Salad
A classical South-east Asian Salad made up of raw papaya, spring onion, chilli, jaggery, vinegar and Peanuts. The raw papaya was nice and crunchy , reason being it was not premixed along with the dressing which made it look eye appealing while plating.
Burger and Hot Dog
An American delicacy which we Indians are very much adapted to with a variety of chicken, lamb and vegetable. I being a pure Non Vegetarian placed an order for lamb burger, freshly baked goey buns toasted till golden brown, then coated with spicy mayonnaise and finally stuffed with lamb patty which was moist and juicy. As soon as you bite through the patty would just melt down and the toasted bun would provide the required crunch and make it interesting.
Thai Omelette Station
“Brunch is always incomplete without eggs.” There was a counter which dispensed Thai based egg preparations, one was omelette and another was stuffed quail eggs. I placed an order for shrimps, clams and onion omelette which was golden brown and cooked from both the sides. It is on similar lines to masala omelette that we make at home, only difference is the toppings part.
A counter which offered delicacies from Southern Hemisphere of India like Dosa & appam served along with different types of curry. Appam was delicate, light, soft and mouth melting which was accompanied along with a little spicy Egg curry made using onion, tomatoes and spices. A simple meal and combo with sheer elegance and class.
Sushi is a Japanese delicacy which is prominently made up of seafood and rice served along with Pickled ginger, wasabi and soya sauce. I am a big fan of Sushi and there are very few outlets who serve Actual Sushi and trust me JW Sahar is one of them. They outclassed sushi which displayed the skills and the class of the chefs they have. My favourite amongst the displayed was Tempura Prawn followed by Eel Maki.
Waffles is something which has been trending so much at present that people travel places just to have waffles. This waffles were gooey and were served along with different toppings of our choice. I topped my waffles with whipped cream, dark chocolate sauce and berry compote which is a classical combination and the same worked for me.
If I start writing about dessert served to me at this very place, then it will take ages to finish writing about it.
It displayed all kinds of desserts, starting from Pastries to Popsicles to classics to Macaroons to Donuts to Tarts.
There was nothing which I could think of and it was not there. Such a huge spread displayed in center of the restaurant to tempt people even before people actually started eating.
Another counter which served different types of ice creams along with different toppings. It had flavours like black current, berry, chocolate, vanilla, etc and on other side there were taste enhancers like Oreo, Falooda, Marshmellows and Chocolate chips. A perfect and easy way to finish your feast.
